Support For People on Georgia’s Death Row and Their Families

New Hope House has been offering support and hospitality for Georgia’s death row prisoners and their families since 1988. Nestled in a beautiful wooded area and just five miles from the prison where death row is located, this ministry provides a quiet, peaceful and private guesthouse for friends and family members of death row prisoners during visitation and executions, free of charge. The ministry also regularly provides transportation for families to and from the prison for visitation, support for the families of defendants facing the death penalty through attendance at the trials, and pastoral support for death row prisoners through correspondence and visitation. We also work locally and nationally to abolish the death penalty in the United States.

There’s a new addition to the New Hope House family: a beautiful new 2022 TOYOTA SIENNA HYBRID MINIVAN!  Thanks to a generous grant from the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia, and through a partnership with St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta, we were able to replace our aging minivan with what one of our death row family members described as a “sweet new ride.”  The new vehicle has everything we were hoping for and more... optimum fuel efficiency, all of the latest safety features, a quiet, smooth ride, and plenty of room for up to six passengers or precious cargo like 40 Christmas boxes for death row.

"My family members stayed at New Hope House for the 22 years I was on death row. If not for their hospitality, I doubt I would have had so many visits because my family couldn't afford to come otherwise. I saw lots of death row groupies come and go, but these people at New Hope House were true lasting friends who made me a part of their lives. Hearing their stories really helped me feel special, but it was their acceptance of MY story that helped me more. Freedom is in us all. We just have to find it. New Hope House helped me find mine."
